Purpose
Hobbestie exists to help hobbyists discover, create, learn, trade digital hobby goods, and connect with other makers in a safe, creative space. These Community Guidelines explain what's welcome, what's not, and how we moderate the platform. They work together with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Quick summary (tl;dr)
- Be kind, respectful, and hobby-focused.
- No illegal content, harassment, hate, or sexual exploitation.
- Digital downloads sold on Hobbestie must be purchased on the web; in-app previews only.
- Buy Hobbix tokens only via in-app billing (Apple IAP / Google Play). Don't solicit token sales outside the app.
- Report rule-breaking content. Offenders get warnings → temporary suspensions → permanent bans depending on severity.
1. Core community principles
- Keep it hobby-focused. Share, teach, and inspire.
- Respect others — people, identities, and creators.
- Protect privacy — don't reveal private data without consent.
- Play fair — be honest about what you sell and how you license your work.
- Follow the law and platform rules (Apple / Google policies).
2. What's allowed
- Original hobby content (photos, how-tos, project updates, templates) and respectful discussion.
- Constructive feedback, tutorials, and collaboration.
- Selling digital products via the Hobbestie marketplace — sellers must accurately label licenses (personal/commercial) and must only support payment & delivery flows the platform allows (web checkout for digital files).
- Earning and spending Hobbix tokens for in-app features and tipping creators — tokens must be purchased through official in-app billing.
3. What's not allowed (hard rules)
Safety & illegal activity
- No content that facilitates illegal activity (e.g., instructions to make illegal substances, weapons, or committing fraud).
- No sharing of stolen property, contraband, or instructions to evade law enforcement.
Hate, harassment & bullying
- No content or behavior that promotes violence or hatred against a protected group.
- No harassment, targeted insults, doxxing, or repeated unwanted contact.
Sexual content & exploitation
- No sexual content involving minors, sexual exploitation, or non-consensual intimate content.
- Adult-only content that's explicit should not be posted in public hobby spaces (if you offer any age-gated areas, they must comply with local law and platform rules).
Scams & fraud
- No impersonation or fake accounts designed to deceive.
- No pyramid schemes, fake giveaways, or requests for money under false pretenses.
- Do not solicit off-platform payments for digital goods in ways that violate app store policies.
Spam & low-quality content
- No mass posting, repeated identical messages, or irrelevant promotional spam.
- Do not use bots to inflate views, likes, or manipulate rankings.
Marketplace-specific prohibitions
- Sellers must not list copyrighted content they don't own or have rights to distribute.
- No sale of items that are illegal, infringing, or prohibited by our policies (explicit adult services, regulated substances, weapons, malware, spyware).
- No selling or offering to sell Hobbix tokens outside official in-app purchase flows.
4. Marketplace & Payments rules (special)
Web-only digital purchases
Digital downloads (templates, e-books, designs) must be sold and delivered through Hobbestie's web checkout and backend delivery. The mobile app may preview items but may not process payment or provide in-app downloads for those files.
No in-app external checkout steering
In-app copy must not contain direct external purchase buttons/links that bypass platform billing in jurisdictions where that's disallowed. Informational messages (e.g., "To purchase this file visit hobbestie.com") are allowed if they comply with platform rules.
Hobbix tokens
Must be purchased via platform billing (Apple IAP on iOS, Google Play Billing on Android). Tokens are non-transferable, non-cashable, and refunds follow platform and Hobbestie policy.
Accurate listings
Sellers must describe product files, formats, and licensing clearly. Misleading descriptions are grounds for removal and buyer refund.
Delivery & support
Sellers must provide functional files and reasonable support. Files may be delivered via expiring links; sellers must not provide ways to circumvent delivery protections.
5. Copyright, licensing & DMCA
- Respect copyright. If you own content you can sell it; if not, don't list it.
- Hobbestie responds to valid DMCA takedown notices and reserves the right to remove content pending investigation.
- If your listing is removed due to a copyright complaint, you may submit a counter-notice where applicable.
6. Moderation & enforcement
6.1 How we moderate
- Automated tools + human review. We may proactively remove content that violates policy.
- Reports from users are reviewed; we may ask for additional information.
6.2 Moderation Timeline
- Automated Review: Immediate (for obvious violations)
- Human Review: Within 24-48 hours for most reports
- Urgent Reports (illegal content, safety threats): Within 4 hours
- Appeals: Reviewed within 5-7 business days
- Complex Cases: May take up to 14 days
6.3 Violation Escalation System
We use a strike system to ensure fair enforcement:
- 1st Violation: Warning (no action)
- 2nd Violation: 3-day suspension
- 3rd Violation: 7-day suspension
- 4th Violation: 30-day suspension
- 5th Violation: Permanent ban
Severe Violations (illegal content, harassment, fraud) may result in immediate permanent ban without warnings.
Strike Expiration: Strikes expire after 12 months of good behavior.
6.4 Enforcement levels
- Warning: Minor or first-time violations.
- Content removal: For specific posts/listings that violate rules.
- Temporary suspension: For repeated or more serious violations.
- Permanent ban: For severe violations (e.g., child sexual content, major fraud, repeated copyright infringement).
- Payout holds: For disputed sales or chargebacks, creator payouts may be withheld while we investigate.
6.5 Transparency
When we take action, we'll try to notify the user with reason and next steps where possible. Some actions (e.g., investigations, legal requests) may be limited by law or safety concerns.
7. Reporting a violation
When reporting, include:
- Link to the content, username, and time.
- Clear explanation of the issue and any evidence (screenshots, order numbers).
- For copyright claims provide sufficient DMCA details (contact, statement of ownership, signature).
Report via: In-app "Report" button, or email: support@hobbestie.app.
8. Appeals
If we take action and you think it was incorrect, you may appeal via the support link provided in the notification or by emailing support@hobbestie.app with an explanation and evidence. Appeals are reviewed by a human moderator team; processing times vary.
9. Privacy & safety
- Don't share other people's private contact details or financial info.
- If you believe a user is in immediate danger, contact local authorities — Hobbestie's reporting channels are not a substitute for emergency services.
10. Creator responsibilities & best practices
- Clearly label license terms (personal / commercial / extended) and file types.
- Provide preview images or sample pages so buyers know what they're purchasing.
- Respond to buyer support requests in a timely manner.
- Honor refunds where items are defective or misrepresented (per platform rules and Hobbestie policy).
- Do not require off-platform contact for delivery unless it is part of accepted service (e.g., commissioned work) — do not instruct buyers to pay you outside Hobbestie for purchases that should go through the platform.
11. Safety for minors
- Users must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If under 18, parental consent is required per Terms of Service.
- Protect minors: no sexual content involving minors, no grooming behavior, no private contact solicitations for minors.
12. Changes to these Guidelines
We may update these Guidelines to reflect new features, legal requirements, or community needs. Material changes will be posted and, where required, notified to users.
